I started upgrading the entrance to the Mansion we use as a base a few weeks ago but got a bit distracted before finishing it. I finally got back to it and after tons of chasing tropical fish around with buckets even the new fish pond is stocked.
Just a tip for your entertainment, give a 5 year old some buckets and water breathing potions and let them chase the fish around the reef. You’ll have an inventory full of water buckets and a few tropical fish plus laugh so hard your stomach hurts. Definitely going to setup a recording the next time we go do that!
The Build
So back to the build, here’s the entrance we had been using. Just a couple of iron doors with buttons added to keep out any wondering mobs. You can see our temp farm for sea pickles and kelp there in the pond. Gave us a decent head start for the final build.

The new entrance added a entrance hall with a balcony area for landing when flying back to base with an Elytra. The doors are typical redstone piston doors with pressure plates. There’s a picture in the gallery below of how the pistons are setup to operate.

The Fish Pond
To add to the area around the entrance we dug out the pond deeper and added more sand. A couple of artificial reefs, sea pickles, and kelp finished it out. Stocked with tropical fish from the ocean (and some from the wandering trader) it came out pretty nice.

The changes to the mansion look very good as well as the pond 👍
As a fan of underwater features from the aquatic update it’s an absolute joy to see this 🙂
Unfortunately my daughter lost interest in Minecraft so I have to collect them on my own 😅
Great job!
