Inner Bailey and Inner Gatehouse
Next up for the Keep module build is the Gatehouse to separate the inner bailey from the outer Keep and town. The gatehouse is described as a small fort with multiple levels. The entry is a passage that slopes upward to the inner courtyard. Starting with the main walls of the gatehouse in stone we built up the blocky shape of a fort with the gate in the center.
For the gate the module text describes it as “iron bound and spiked”. I tried out a few ways to represent that but it just didn’t look right with the vanilla Minecraft blocks. I may adjust it later with a textured door but since I want it to look correct even without a texture pack it will be an iron bar portcullis.
Gatehouse Details
The gatehouse needs to have a strong defensive presence so I added the iron barred windows for archers on both levels and detailed the battlements on the roof.
