The Taiga village we found near the mansion has become one of our favorites and we also have our ice farm on a hill near it. Since I plan to have this village as one of the main hubs we are going to build an outpost for it. We have built similar forts a few times and they are nice to have when exploring. I’ve also built this as a starter base when I knew I planned to move to a different area later for the main base.
The Taiga village sits at the edge of some hills and has a nice hill overlooking it that we are going to build the new outpost on. We cleared the trees out of the way and started laying out the foundation. The main section of the outpost is 14×15 and the tower at the rear is 8×8 and merges into the outpost. This gives plenty of room for a crafting area, storage, beds, and even an enchanting setup. If more room is needed a basement level can be dug for more storage, a nether portal, or vault type treasure room.
Finishing the Interior
For this base we only need a few storage chests to keep basic materials for crafting or building in the area. The majority of our loot and build supplies will be in the main base treasure room. I used the first floor of the tower for our chests and crafting area.
In the main room I put in potion and food dispensers that are fed from chests behind the trap doors. The other side of the room has the workstations for repairing our equipment.
The second floor of the tower has the beds for passing the night when we need to. The third floor is an extra enchanting area. Since there are two skeleton spawners near the village we may use one as a farm later on so having the enchanting setup nearby will be useful.
This outpost works great and is basically a small castle that is fun to build and doesn’t require a huge amount of resources or detailing. With the outpost finished I plan to start on the Nether Hub and roads next, check back soon for another update!
