Building the Archery Range in our Minecraft Base (P9)

To make bow practice a little more entertaining for my kids I built this archery range with redstone lamps for feedback. The closer they hit to the bullseye the more lamps light up. The woodland mansion we are using as our base has plenty of room still to expand into so I decided to build it inside. This way if they are playing at night time and do not want to sleep they have another option besides crafting or heading down to the mine.

Building the Range

We haven’t used the second floor very much and there is a perfect area with a long room that can be expanded. The cat idol looks neat but just takes up space so time for it to go.

With the cat out of the way I combined the two rooms by taking out the walls. Next, I closed off the other doorways and added glowstone lights to keep the area lit up. This gave me a room long enough to have a decent range for them to shoot from.

Setting up the Targets

Using the Target blocks and redstone lamps I built out three targets for us. I used redstone on glass blocks to wire from the target block up behind each lamp. To keep the target area well lit there are glowstone blocks behind each of the stair blocks. The red carpet is our firing line with 2 options to practice from different distances.

Just in case we forget our bows or arrows I added item frames to hold two extra bows and a single chest full of arrows. Later I think I will upgrade the bows with unbreaking and infinity to make them last longer.

Bows are stored in item frames and arrows in the chest.

Archery Practice

With the range setup and equipped I tested it out to see the different power levels. So far it’s working great and gives immediate feedback. Here’s the video showing how it works.
